Reichen takes on Perez Hilton
It looks like blogger Perez Hilton has another lawsuit on his hands. This time it it Reichen (the former partner of singer Lance Bass) who wants to sue Perez for claiming that Reichen had used crystal meth.
Reichen writes on his MySpace.com blog:
Attornies/Celebrities VS. Mario Lavendeira and BOYCOTT of PerezHilton.com Advertisers
I want to thank all those who have come in support , especially attornies and celebrities, and attornies of celebrities, of my latest blog against Mario Lavendeira (aka perezhilton.com) who fabricates 100%-false stories and unsupported lies on a website to slander celebrities in an attempt to hurt careers earned on honest time and hard work, while making money from advertisers on his site. This is a person who is an accused thief, accused hard-drug user, and an overall accused criminal.
First, PLEASE STOP supporting anyone or any company who/that advertises on the site, "PerezHilton.com". Please sit down today and write emails to those people/companies who advertise on this site and tell them that you have committed to stop using or buying their products or services because they advertise on "PerezHilton.com", because you won't support the "unnecessary destruction of others' lives through blatant LIES." I will write a more comprehensive note to you all about this later, and am launching this call for a boycott in some of our major paper magazines as well. They are excited about this too.
Really take a good look at the advertisers and don't forget to boycott them, only if you feel in support of my stance on this issue. This is your right as an American consumer.
And for all the GAY consumers out there, you make up a MULTI BILLION DOLLAR industry for some of the advertisers on the PerezHilton.com site, so FLEX the INFLUENCE you have. You MATTER MUCH MORE than people want you to think you do. Also, know that I truly do love and appreciate you more than you could imagine...and more than this and other gossip websites would like you to believe. I wish there were a way for me to really allow you to see that, but all I have is my words on this blog. Stop being fooled to hate your own community and to hate those who truly work FOR you. It only weakens us. Stop supporting these companies.
This is a general message to the 10's of Celebrities (much to my and our attorney's surprise) who responded to my blog, and who have asked to file a Class Action Lawsuit, together, against Mr. Lavendeira. Of course, I'm in. It is not clear how the lawsuit will be structured, but we are committed, along with you.
Other Celebrities who would like to respond: Please know that your names are being held in confidence until the unveiling of this lawsuit (unless you choose to reveal it sooner, yourself). If you are an "A+ Celebrity", know that you are not alone here, if you are thinking about joining us. Please continue to come forward at www.Reichen.us and click on "Email" to give my assistant your information, or your assistant/PR Agent's information. We will write you back with a private, secure email address and system to get the ball rolling for your particular complaints. It's time to flex YOUR influence.
The goal of this lawsuit is to result in the stopping of your name being used in connection with untruths and gossip on the internet that obviously damage/ruin your name/reputation and lessen your ability to be successful in your profession. The precedent set will make sure that bloggers and others will be required to prove their word---or else they must pay monetary damages to you ..like Mr. Lavendeira will have to in this particular suit.
Mine will start with Mr. Lavendeira's allegations (that MUST be proven) that I have ever once used the drug "crystal meth", based on a picture he has posted and an accusation connected to it, that I have engaged in "Illegal activity" that would result in my eyes being dilated...this photo was taken on a night when I attended the Dixie Chicks concert in Los Angeles and allowing press to photograph me after receiving eye-dilation medication at Dr. Kawesch's office, Laser Eye Surgeon, in West Los Angeles, who can testify to that treatment on that night at 4:30pm to evaluate my eyes for future surgery. 30 Days later, I received LASIK surgery with the same surgeon. If you are the person who took that photo, please verify that Mr. Lavendeira did not STEAL that photo, since he has a history of NOT PAYING for the work of others. I know it makes me less exciting in the realm of his website, but I don't snort meth.
Among other things, he will have to prove that I "went home with" or "made out with" and went anywhere but home on the night of 13 Dec 2006. Because this is a blatant lie with the purpose of lessening my credibility as a person, he MUST prove his allegations. I'm sure the friends that I drove home with that evening will make this tough on Mr. Lavendeira. Also the testimony of the person I was allegedly with, who left me at the clug, will hurt his case as well. Those statements MUST be answered to and PAID for by Mr. Lavendeira.
Yes, I'm really over this person and his directed attacks on me and other hard-working people. I'm sorry we invited Mr. Lavendeira to my book signing event in Los Angeles and extended a warm welcome to him upon his arrival. We tried to make friends with him but this clearly didn't get through to him. It would be tough for only me to call this person out on his lies, but now that I have a group along with me, it makes more sense. Soon we will no longer have to waste our time responding to the lies and fabricated stories that this person makes up so we can concentrate on our work.
Some ask why I am explaining myself, but it's time to stop the ridiculousness of this person and his website. I know it lowers myself to his level to explain his allegations, but everyone MUST see that this person is a fraud. The best part about it is that the celebrities who are joining us do not feel that this is low at all. I trust them because I know what they have gone through. It's simple.
Mr. Lavendeira, showing his class, is also attacking my supposed desired "sexual position" on his website's rebuttle to my blog in a clear display of his intelligence and defensive debating PROWESS. Besides the laughter that this has generated in our office, because no one in the world seems to care about this except you, a blatant pervert, Mr. Lavendeira, I don't discriminate in that department, either way. I love it all. :-) We thought this knowledge, from the horse's mouth, would make you happy, sir, and fulfilled on all fronts...and comfort you somewhat before we all begin to fight you and your lies. Yes, that's as low as I can take myself in my own defense, I know, but we all have to keep a sense of humor in challenging times.
And this is a special thank you to all the military men and women, fellow Graduates of the U.S. Air Force Academy (especially my Classmates), Cadets at Annapolis and West Point, JAGs, and Pilots out there who have written me in support and to ask questions...no really, I thank YOU. Even people fighting in Iraq who are patrolling our "no fly zones" hate this person.
And to answer your questions, I resigned from the Air Force as a Captain in 2001, I no longer own Tribe Airways Private Jet Service (I dissolved my company and gave up my aircraft lease-back deals in 2003, before running The Amazing Race), and yes, what happened in my book "Here's What We'll Say" is real. (And I'm NOT sorry for mentioning MY BOOK...Since on perezhilton.com, this very near and dear to my heart Accomplishment of writing a book makes me a "media whore"). Yeah, not sorry at all. I did something really good for thousands of people, and I couldn't be more proud of that.
Anyone who believes that there couldn't be good intentions for doing something positive inside of another person, is only projecting his own personality on others...meaning, there are clearly no good intentions inside of Mr. Lavendeira, so he doesn't want anyone to believe that there could be good inside of others.
I am in a relationship that has good and tough times like all relationships. Mine gets played out in the media when we have a tough time. I expect that. But we remain committed to a happy and healthy relationship that works for us. Hope this clears that up too.
