Ethel Kennedy is notorious for not paying
bills, and routinely has to be threatened
with court action -- and a phone call to
the Washington Post Style section -- before
she (or a family intermediary) will settle
accounts. The list of caterers, domestic
agencies, contractors, landscapers, mechanics,
physicians and other service vendors in
Washington who no longer answer her calls
is a very long one.
